Veterans Appreciation Day

November 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. board the Battleship Iowa for the Veterans Appreciation Festival. Free tours aboard this massive ship for veterans and active duty military (with a photo ID). There will also be live music, delicious food trucks, kid’s craft activities and a veterans resource fair. Please support our patriotic neighbors at the L.A. Waterfront. This will be a great day!

    What’s Cookin’

     Check out the array of culinary creations and artisanal food products that are a major part of our market. We also have a ton of beautiful kitchenware, utensils and supplies perfect for the chef on your holiday shopping list. CRAFTED is thrilled to offer sampling from a few of our food products for the holiday season, beginning November 15.  San Angel Mole, Beyond the Olive (Olive Oils), Ruby Grapefruit Marmalade, and Tropic Fire Chutneys will be available for sampling. This Thanksgiving, GIVE IN to the DIY spirit and shop the amazing culinary aisles in our craft market!

      Come enjoy a leisurely afternoon of wine, homemade hors d’oeuvres, beautiful music and instructional painting, hosted by decorative artist Shari Tipich.
      Sunday, November 10, 2013, 3:00-6:00 p.m., at CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles.

          Every purchase we make reflects our values.  The average American spends $700 on holiday shopping.  If just $64 of this was spent on gifts made in the USA, the economic impact would equate to the creation of 200,000 American jobs.

          Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday sits Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to helping small businesses and their communities. This November 30, Shop Small and support local small businesses that boost the economy and invigorate our neighborhoods. CRAFTED features more than 100 artists – real people making one-of-a-kind treasures and handmade creations, right here at home.

            Our talented artists are teaching craft classes in our market! Have you longed to create beautiful beaded jewelry or fire metal clay just like our professional crafters?                 Dia De Los Muertos

                Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos in our craft market. Visit the Creation Station and honor this special day by painting a “sugar” skull. The fantastic San Pedro dance troupe Folklorico Del Mar will host a  special performance Friday, November 1, at 4:45 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, visit a Day of the Dead alter in front of Bueno! Designs, Booth A158. If you’d wish, bring a picture of your loved ones that can be placed on the alter to honor and celebrate them.

                  Howling Halloween Fun

                  Sink your teeth into some spooky fun in the market Oct 25th-27th! We will have scary Halloween Gifts for sale (check out the Halloween Gift Guide for inspiration). Bring the kids dressed up in costume all weekend for trick or treating booth to booth. Check out the fun costume contest for kids and adults in our market, Saturday, Oct 26, at 5 p.m. Don’t forget to BYOP (Bring yer own pumpkin) for a spooktacular pumpkin decorating project in our Creation Station also. Creation Station hours are Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

                  Just added! Halloween Magician Patrick will be in our market, Saturday, 12-2pm

                    Live Music: October 19-20

                    Saturday, October 19 from 2-5:30pm

                    “Joellen Lapidus is one of the pioneers of contemporary fretted dulcimer playing, songwriting, and instrument construction. Joellen blends the Appalachian, Indian, Arabic, jazz, classical, and pop musical styles to give the dulcimer a new range of rhythmic, melodic, and tuning possibilities.” She has even constructed a dulcimer for the wonderful Joni Mitchell. There will be a live performance of this unique instrument this Sunday, October 19 from 2-5:30pm.

                    Sunday, October 20 from 2-5:30pm

                    The Silver Kings play very traditional early Electric blues of the 40’s and early 50’s. Guitar, Stand up Bass, and Harmonica, suitcase bass drum make up the fantastic eclectic sound. Join them this Sunday afternoon for a live performance you won’t forget!
