“Joellen Lapidus is one of the pioneers of contemporary fretted dulcimer playing, songwriting, and instrument construction. Joellen blends the Appalachian, Indian, Arabic, jazz, classical, and pop musical styles to give the dulcimer a new range of rhythmic, melodic, and tuning possibilities.” She has even constructed a dulcimer for the wonderful Joni Mitchell. There will be a live performance of this unique instrument this Sunday, October 19 from 2-5:30pm.

Sunday, October 20 from 2-5:30pm

The Silver Kings play very traditional early Electric blues of the 40’s and early 50’s. Guitar, Stand up Bass, and Harmonica, suitcase bass drum make up the fantastic eclectic sound. Join them this Sunday afternoon for a live performance you won’t forget!

    Water is Key

     Join us October 26 at 1 p.m. for a photo exhibit by former L.A. District Attorney, Gil Garcetti, entitled Water Is Key: Building a Better Future for Africa. We will be honoring the International Year of Water Cooperation, with our hosts, Global Gifts, Booth A106. Celebrate United Nations Day with birthday cake, and learn about this important mission. UN cake cutting will be at 2 p.m.

    You will also be able to purchase Gil Garcetti’s new book,  Water Is Key: A Better Future for Africa featuring photographs about bring clean, drinkable water to the driest places in West Africa (like Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger etc.).  The book is sold  at this event.

          Haeuser Pottery, Booth A180

          Living in Los Angeles, Matt of Haeuser Pottery and Kristy of Multi Marine create beautiful, colorful and functional works, anything from dinnerware to specific use articles.  Both explore their love for ceramics in original, exciting ways, devising interesting forms and textures. They experiment with colors and decorations, often recalling themes from nature.

          The business with a focus on hair accessories using chainmail supplies. It has expanded to include jewelry pieces incorporating bone and gears. You can also find beautifully sewn blankets – perfect for cozying up on a cold night.

          Patsy Johnson Quilts, Booth A140

          She’s back! Self taught quilter extraordinaire, Patsy Johnson, has been creating quilts for years. She grew up watching her relatives sew quilts by hand and was so inspired by culture and art that Patsy Johnson Quilts was born. Beautiful stories by this California native are all on display in her unique quilt designs.

          Greta’s paintings are created as small personal portraits welcoming the viewer closer as if to whisper a secret or share an inside joke. She is also a talented photographer that is drawn to junk piles and deserted factories, debris that at one point had been useful. These places always seemed a bit lonely and forgotten and carelessly abandoned. These great shots can allow the viewer to be drawn in ask why.

          Mi Luna Azul’s Abelardo and Sylvia refurbish gorgeous vintage furniture pieces. Each piece is transformed while maintaining the original look and quality of the item. Sylvia also creates handcrafted hair pins and pins, with fun and quirky pop culture references.

          Tamiza’s Treats are fun and delicious cakes, cookies, pastries, and fudge! Shop her delicious port wine cakes and scrumptious biscotti cookies this weekend. Tamiza’s Treats will satisfy any sweet tooth.

          Julie creates cute gumball machines that make perfect gifts for any girl or boy. These awesome candy jars will be great for kids of all ages as well! Fun, and whimsical children’s art is also on display in this fun booth.

            Yarnosphere: YARN – SHOP – LEARN – FUN!

            CRAFTED loves to partner with local businesses and groups that have a similar goal in mind. Check out this great event hosted by Yarnosphere located at the OC Fair and Event Center Oct 12 & 13.

            Yarnosphere is a fun-filled shopfest with learn-a-longs for yarn lovers. It will be held at OC Fair & Event Center on October 12 & 13, 2013. Visit their website for full details.

            Yarnosphere has the whole experience: shopping, learn-a-longs, and places to sit and hang out with your fellow fiber friends. Spend an hour or the day — there’s plenty going on and there are have a lot of great prizes both days and ongoing activities on the demonstration stage.

              Live Music: Jodi and Clem

              Our market hosts talented musicians almost every market day. This weekend is no exception!

              Blues and folk singer-songwriter Jodi Siegel joins our market to perform a rockin’ set of covers and originals that will make you want to move! Check out this fun live performance on Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. She has played in our market several times over the summer, and we couldn’t resist having her back for another gig. Don’t miss this woman with a talented voice that will move ya.

              Clem Pennington is a talented and stylish singer with a great set of pipes! His career spans over 40 years and has performed with the classics, such as The Drifters, The Whispers and much more. He will give you the chance to relive the old school era of music that we so desperately miss. Check him hit that high note with a free performance this Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

              All performances will be held in our demonstration area. All performances are free and open to the public.

                 It’s hard to find many people who can say they can weave with an 11 foot loom for a hobby. Especially those that are amazing at it.  This rare talent is possessed by the lovely Dana of The Indigo Isle. Dana loves to spread her knowledge about this craft to her customers and excited visitors. Visit booth A 124 for live weaving demos and to shop beautiful accessories and home decor items she creates.

                The Indigo Isle embodies the spirit of a diminishing unusual craft. Inspired by a love for color, contrast and culture, The Indigo Isle invites you on an enigmatic journey away from mass-produced fabric, towards refined hand-woven, one-of-a-kind compositions.

                  The SoCal Etsy Guild is back with a summer edition of the “Mom & Pop-Up Shop” at CRAFTED. This one day festival showcases dozens of Southern California’s modern makers of handmade soaps and lotions, clothing and jewelry, treats both sweet and savory, and so much more. Combined with the makers inside CRAFTED’s permanent marketplace, you’ll get to shop creations from over 100 of the best local crafters around — all while enjoying live music, art projects for all ages, a hula hoop station, and face painting.

Our Celtic aires will pull at your heart strings, and our jigs and reels will set your feet in motion. American traditional music is celebrated from seafaring Colonial times to bluegrass, and from Appalachia to Cowboy.
