Our talented artists are teaching craft classes in our market! Have you longed to create beautiful beaded jewelry or fire metal clay just like our professional crafters? THIS WEEK’S SPOTLIGHT: Sorry folks, this class is SOLD OUT. Email for future dates. Silk Painting with Susan Patricia. Susan will host the silk painting class Saturday, November 2 at 1pm-5pm at CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles. A fee of $75 includes all materials to complete 2 projects

  • 24” x 24” size Chinese silk for framing or pillow
  • 15” x 60” size hand-rolled  Chinese silk scarf

Event price includes a 16″x20″ canvas and all materials, step-by-step instruction, 2 glasses of wine, soft drinks and food. 18 and over, please, alcohol will only be served to those 21 and over.

      Dia De Los Muertos

      Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos in our craft market. Visit the Creation Station and honor this special day by painting a “sugar” skull. The fantastic San Pedro dance troupe Folklorico Del Mar will host a  special performance Friday, November 1, at 4:45 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, visit a Day of the Dead alter in front of Bueno! Designs, Booth A158. If you’d wish, bring a picture of your loved ones that can be placed on the alter to honor and celebrate them.

        Howling Halloween Fun

        Sink your teeth into some spooky fun in the market Oct 25th-27th! We will have scary Halloween Gifts for sale (check out the Halloween Gift Guide for inspiration). Bring the kids dressed up in costume all weekend for trick or treating booth to booth. Check out the fun costume contest for kids and adults in our market, Saturday, Oct 26, at 5 p.m. Don’t forget to BYOP (Bring yer own pumpkin) for a spooktacular pumpkin decorating project in our Creation Station also. Creation Station hours are Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

          Live Music: October 19-20

          Saturday, October 19 from 2-5:30pm

          “Joellen Lapidus is one of the pioneers of contemporary fretted dulcimer playing, songwriting, and instrument construction. Joellen blends the Appalachian, Indian, Arabic, jazz, classical, and pop musical styles to give the dulcimer a new range of rhythmic, melodic, and tuning possibilities.” She has even constructed a dulcimer for the wonderful Joni Mitchell. There will be a live performance of this unique instrument this Sunday, October 19 from 2-5:30pm.

          Sunday, October 20 from 2-5:30pm

          The Silver Kings play very traditional early Electric blues of the 40’s and early 50’s. Guitar, Stand up Bass, and Harmonica, suitcase bass drum make up the fantastic eclectic sound. Join them this Sunday afternoon for a live performance you won’t forget!

            Water is Key

             Join us October 26 at 1 p.m. for a photo exhibit by former L.A. District Attorney, Gil Garcetti, entitled Water Is Key: Building a Better Future for Africa. We will be honoring the International Year of Water Cooperation, with our hosts, Global Gifts, Booth A106. Celebrate United Nations Day with birthday cake, and learn about this important mission. UN cake cutting will be at 2 p.m.

            You will also be able to purchase Gil Garcetti’s new book,  Water Is Key: A Better Future for Africa featuring photographs about bring clean, drinkable water to the driest places in West Africa (like Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger etc.).  The book is sold  at this event.

                  Living in Los Angeles, Matt of Haeuser Pottery and Kristy of Multi Marine create beautiful, colorful and functional works, anything from dinnerware to specific use articles.  Both explore their love for ceramics in original, exciting ways, devising interesting forms and textures. They experiment with colors and decorations, often recalling themes from nature.



                  Fashionable Familiars, Booth A120

                  The business with a focus on hair accessories using chainmail supplies. It has expanded to include jewelry pieces incorporating bone and gears. You can also find beautifully sewn blankets – perfect for cozying up on a cold night.

                  Patsy Johnson Quilts, Booth A140

                  She’s back! Self taught quilter extraordinaire, Patsy Johnson, has been creating quilts for years. She grew up watching her relatives sew quilts by hand and was so inspired by culture and art that Patsy Johnson Quilts was born. Beautiful stories by this California native are all on display in her unique quilt designs.

                  Greta’s paintings are created as small personal portraits welcoming the viewer closer as if to whisper a secret or share an inside joke. She is also a talented photographer that is drawn to junk piles and deserted factories, debris that at one point had been useful. These places always seemed a bit lonely and forgotten and carelessly abandoned. These great shots can allow the viewer to be drawn in ask why.

                  Mi Luna Azul’s Abelardo and Sylvia refurbish gorgeous vintage furniture pieces. Each piece is transformed while maintaining the original look and quality of the item. Sylvia also creates handcrafted hair pins and pins, with fun and quirky pop culture references.

                  Find fine leather goods in The Collective booth. These handsome wrist pieces, belts, bags and accessories are perfect for the edgier folks on your shopping list. Check out the beautiful handiwork with new vendors of The Collective.

                  Tamiza’s Treats are fun and delicious cakes, cookies, pastries, and fudge! Shop her delicious port wine cakes and scrumptious biscotti cookies this weekend. Tamiza’s Treats will satisfy any sweet tooth.




                  Julie’s Kraft Shack, Booth A183

                  Julie creates cute gumball machines that make perfect gifts for any girl or boy. These awesome candy jars will be great for kids of all ages as well! Fun, and whimsical children’s art is also on display in this fun booth.

                    Yarnosphere: YARN – SHOP – LEARN – FUN!

                    CRAFTED loves to partner with local businesses and groups that have a similar goal in mind. Check out this great event hosted by Yarnosphere located at the OC Fair and Event Center Oct 12 & 13.

                    Yarnosphere is a fun-filled shopfest with learn-a-longs for yarn lovers. It will be held at OC Fair & Event Center on October 12 & 13, 2013. Visit their website for full details.

                    Yarnosphere has the whole experience: shopping, learn-a-longs, and places to sit and hang out with your fellow fiber friends. Spend an hour or the day — there’s plenty going on and there are have a lot of great prizes both days and ongoing activities on the demonstration stage.
