A zesty Lemon Grass, Pineapple with a hint of Jasmine. A firm line of minerals with brisk acidity give way to Gooseberry and fresh Herbs. Displays a very clean and precisely balanced finish.

DIY of the week: Hydrangea Hippo

            Posted August 16th, 2012

Thank you Jennifer Priest of Hydrangea Hippo for this great craft tip!!

I created this super frilly pretty flower for a mini book I made when I was on the Clear Scraps Design Team. The flowers were mulberry paper based flowers from Accent Scrapbooking but this same technique can be used for Prima, Petaloo, Bo Bunny, or any other flat paper flowers you have. You know you have these kinds of flowers in your stash, just begging to be pulled out of the package, jar, or bag and put onto a page!! You’ve cast them aside for the new highly embellished and glittered flowers that have become popular over the last few years. Who wants to be seen using last year’s flowers? Not me!

This technique will help bring your old plain flowers up to par — you’ll be a fashion-forward scrapper in no time. What are you waiting for?

For this technique you will need some very sophisticated supplies: white glue and 3 paper flowers. I know, too easy.

I sprayed these flowers with Smooch Spritz in Tea Party to give them a slightly more “shabby” coloring and some sparkle. This is an optional step-if you decide later that your flower is “blah”, you can always spray some Smooch Spritz on it!

Fold one flower in half and secured with glue.

The fold that flower in half again and secure with glue.

Apply some glue to the center of the second flower.

Place the point of the folded flower into the center of the second flower and wrap the second flower around the folded flower.

Pinch the flower around the folded flower to make the petals flare out.

Adhere this double flower to the third flower and fluff the petals.

Add to a project for a little extra pizzazz (and to use up your stash).
