CRAFTED’s Red Car Market is a gourmet food shop specializing in sauces, dressings, spices and more. Owners Tim and Florence McCarthy, creators of the award-winning San Angel Mole, culled together this collection of culinary delights, all crafted by LA and California-based makers.
It started with a jar of sauce. Having been a chef in several high-end restaurants, Tim experimented with Florence’s family recipes from Mexico (Florence’s maiden name is Guerrero) and created three jarred sauces that passed her family’s taste tests – red, black and Cascabel chile moles. All three are great and the owners can tell you how to pair them with your favorite meats and vegetable. The Cascabel is particularly good as a cheese enchilada sauce and can be used as a base for Chile Con Carne, for which the couple won the Gold Sofi Award from the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade.
But, as Tim points out, three types of sauces fills three shelves – so then what? So the couple found the best sauces, salts, dressing and more created and packaged in L.A., founding the Red Car Market.
