Valentines Linocut Workshop

Create a multicolor linocut print in this 2-hour beginner’s workshop. Learn the basics of an old art form popular once again with graphic designers and illustrators. Use your hand to create a color print of your own design. Students will leave with two cut blocks that they may use for future printing. Students will also leave with printed cards.

Description

So what is a linocut? A linocut is a print similar to a woodcut only the design is carved out of a rubber block (called a lino block) instead of a piece of wood. Rubber is much easier to carve making this an easy way to print a design.

In this workshop, you will learn how to transfer a design onto lino blocks, what tools to use and how to carve your design, and how to print your design in multiple colors. You will also learn some of the basic elements of design: Line, Shape, Form, Color, and Composition.
