Introduction to Metal Clay
January 22, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Introduction to Metal Clay:
This wonderfully malleable material, consisting of fine silver particles suspended in an organic binder and water, can be formed like modeling clay. When fired with a torch or in a kiln, it sinters together, making a molecular bond. The binder burns away and the maker is left with a pure silver object (.999).In this class you will learn to produce a pendant from fine silver metal clay. We will design, texture, pre-fire finish, fire and finish the piece. I will walk you through the entire process from concept to completion. The Mini-Intro at Crafted registration fee of $85, includes instruction, handout, pack of clay, one small gemstone, and use of any and all necessary tools and materials to complete the project. You need only bring water and eye magnification if that is useful to you.
The possibilities are endless . . . even if you think you are not creative. You will be inspired by how easy it is to make striking pieces with metal clay.
